Genital Warts Treatment

Genital warts, also known medically as Condylomata Acuminata, are one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs). They are caused by certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV) — most commonly HPV types 6 and 11.

While genital warts can be worrying or embarrassing, treatment is available. At Little Cross Family Clinic, we provide discreet, effective, and affordable genital warts treatment in Singapore, ensuring your health and privacy are always prioritised.

Treatment options

While treatment removes visible warts, it does not eliminate the HPV virus from your body. Warts may reappear, so follow-up care is important.

1. Topical Creams

  • Prescription creams stimulate your immune system to fight HPV.

  • Applied several times a week for up to 16 weeks.

  • Success rate: 60–70%.

  • Side effects: redness, itchiness, or mild burning.

2. Cryotherapy (Freezing with Liquid Nitrogen)

  • Liquid nitrogen is applied to freeze the wart.

  • Warts usually fall off within a few days.

  • Success rate: up to 90%.

  • May require repeat sessions.

  • Side effects: mild pain, blisters, or temporary skin colour changes.

Your doctor will recommend the best option depending on the size, location, and number of warts.

Preventing Genital Warts:
HPV Vaccination

The most effective way to protect against genital warts and HPV-related cancers is through the HPV vaccine.

  • Recommended for both males and females, ideally before sexual activity begins.

  • Still beneficial for those already sexually active.

  • Protects against HPV strains that cause genital warts (types 6 & 11) and certain cancers.Given as 3 doses over 6 months (0, 2, and 6 months).

At Little Cross Family Clinic, we provide HPV vaccination in Singapore as part of our preventive healthcare services.
